Does anyone have any nice travel carriers? Where did you buy them at? I liked the stroller too but I don't know, I think a nice carrier that I can take our baby with us maybe to the park when it gets warm or maybe out and about. I want it to be a little bit discreet because I would hate for someone to steal my baby :(<br><br>Post edited by: CarolandFamily, at: 2009/03/29 01:36

I personally prefer the adventure pack even if I have had to refine it. The cage itself is solid, lightweight and made out of stainless steel. It is well built.. not only for your comfort but especially for your parrot's comfort and pleasure. By the way .. have you thought about a new name for your parrot yet?B)

I really wouldn't purchase the one on that website because those meshy holes don't seem to provide great ventilation... this would be of great concern to me ESPECIALLY on very warm days. Here is a picture of my Emma's backpack.:)

It is extremely light, user friendly and in many ways.. the perfect travel cage.{Love-0002011D}

As mentioned... the cage is very well made... but the canvas is another story....When I purchased this back pack I only had my little Sachi. I purchased it last January and only started using it in May. Sachi has seen many wonderful places in it.

Now the dome portion of the canvas is attached by by these snap like buttons... and after a while they are very likely to become loose and fall off just through NORMAL USAGE and it left a hole in the canvas too:( . In my case... Emma finished the job off with one quick motion when I brought her home in it in Sept.

What I did a few weeks ago is I brought the pack to my shoemaker and explained my predicament. I also explained what needed to remain in tact in terms of performance and design. What he did for me was amazing. He removed all of the cheap shoddy buttons and replaced them with VERY good quality ones but not before he lined all the insides where the buttons are with strips of leather. If you look at Emma's picture you can see a bit of what he did.

It looks GREAT, performs great and is a far better quality product. I am very psyched about using my adventure pack with my girlies this year.

I got a note from the seller about the canvas after purchasing the Adventure Pack. Here it is:

"IMPORTANT *** IMPORTANT *** IMPORTANT

Canvas Cover Assembly Instructions:

When fitting the canvas cover to the cage, it is NECESSARY TO UNZIP AND UNSNAP all the closures as well as removing the canvas dome piece. Once all these parts are either unzipped or unsnapped, it is easy to pull on the canvas over the cage and zip it up.

Occasionally snaps are difficult to unfasten. Changing the angle you are pulling from will often make the snap easy to undo. Gently pull next to the snap: Straining on any fabric with snaps increases the likelihood that you will damage the fabric. We will not be responsible nor replace damaged canvases or broken zippers. All snaps and zippers have been personally inspected by our personnel before they are packed.

Step-by-step instructions:

We found it best to start with the back bottom part of the canvas, scooting the cage into the bottom. Then keep gently working the canvas over the top and down at the bottom at the same time. Once the canvas is on, but not zipped, you can adjust it so that it is even.

Slowly and gently pull the zipper up, pulling the canvas together at the same time. This is 100% cotton and will stretch out eventually, but is very tight for now. Take great care as you go around the corners, that you pull the canvas together so that the zipper does not separate.

(You will likely only be able to zip it using one zipper from one side to the other, stopping just above the “bump” where the tray is on the opposite side from where you began, until the canvas stretches out. We have attached a picture via Email.)

When fitting the canvas over the cage, make sure the front door of the cage is facing out the zippered door so you can get the bird in and out without removing the canvas cover."

So does that mean your cover will be ok? I am thinking about getting this too. Here in Ma the humidty is extremely icky. I was thinking of one of those acrylic carriers but my goodness I would hate for our baby to overheat. Then I saw the Celti Bird pack but I would be afraid of the mesh collapsing. I am just a worry wart lol. This seems to have everything I need except for the hefty price tag :S

BTW do they come with food and water cups?

Thank You<br><br>Post edited by: CarolandFamily, at: 2009/03/29 21:34

Yes.. even in following these instructions that come with the pack I'm sure you will all experience my similar situation at some point, especially if you use the pack often and regularly.

I never removed the complete cage from the canvas.. it wasn't necessary...

but often I would remove the dome Part to insert some treats, my wallet or a water cup in the secret compartment.

One of the reasons why I like the cage is that the parrots don't seem too confined in it. They can aslo view what's going on in front of them and on both sides if I wish to pull up the canvas or keep one side covered for security and privacy.

Re: the perch.. I replaced it with a cotton one. The food cups Emma and Sachi don't use at all.

This year I am prepared! Emma and Sachi will see so much more:)

They do offer an alternative cover with velcro instead of snaps for $38, but then you can't use it as a backpack.

I suppose I could trade them the unused snap one for the velcro (hasn't arrived yet), I'll probably just try the backpack and see how it goes.
