she
Just back from the Marina Dalglish centre. We saw the radiologist from Clatterbridge, had a good talk and my mum has decided to go ahead with radiotherapy. The treatment will start after Easter. She will be going daily Monday - Friday for three weeks. The radiologist was very confident that all will be fine in the future. The Marina Dalglish centre was set up by the wife of footballer Kenny Dalglish who recovered from breast cancer. It is a fantastic place and Marina put in place little thing that make such a difference. We were given a cup of tea on arrival and the waiting room was very cozy and relaxing.A team of girls even offer free manicures and facials to patients.Small touches like that really make a difference.

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/03/25 17:
LindaMary
That sounds like a wonderful place, She! I really believe little details like that can have a HUGE effect on any sort of healing process. To me, it's an example of chaos theory at its best work ("sensitive dependence on initial conditions") - where tiny details in a person being made to feel comfortable and cared for can really energize and strengthen the immune system. I'm so glad to hear the radiologist feels the prognosis is good for your mom. Thanks for keeping us posted!
she
It is a great place,Marina Dalglish felt she was de humanised a bit and so added little things to make it all bearable.I agree that it all helps towards the healing and making people feel at ease. Thanks for the warm wishes. It really does help.
judygram
That really is a nice place and there should be more places like that, anything that helps with something so difficult to deal with, your mum is very lucky to find it, thanks for keeping us updated on her. Hope all goes well for her.
she
Thanks Judy.It is all down to Marina and Kenny Dalglish and their tireless fund raising. People call the Nhs but The treatment mum is getting is second to none.
BaxtersMom
That is so nice that they offer those "little extras" to make the experience a little more relaxing and caring. A hot cup of tea would make anyone feel better no matter what and I'd be all for those facials:) and the pampering. I'm glad to hear it is such a nice place.
