Guest briansmum
i thought i'd share mine, though i think i've mentioned it somewhere before. the most touching lyrics to me aren't about love. the album this song is from came out not long after i was involved in a car accident that changed my life, my arm was completely snapped and my pelvis shattered. i now have metal plates and pins in both my arm and pelvis.. and some lovely battle scars, i was 19 at the time. i am now 21 and approaching my first hip replacment as a result of this accident, i do not know if i will ever be able to have children. this song helped me a lot as i could not understand at the time why such a thing had happened to me, i still don't really. hopefully sharing the brief version of the story will help you understand why this song means so much to me. Maybe we're all different But we're still the same We all got the blood of Eden running to our veins I know sometimes it's hard for you to see You cought between just who you are and who you want to be If you feel alone and lost and need a friend Remember every new beginning is some beginning's end Welcome to wherever you are This is your life, you made it this far Welcome, you got to believe That right here right now you're exactly where you're supposed to be Welcome to wherever you are When everybody's in and you're left out And you feel drowning in a shadow of the dawn Everyone's a miracle in their own way Just listen to yourself not what other people say When it seems you're lost alone and feeling down Remember everybody's different, just take a look around Welcome to wherever you are This is your life, you made it this far Welcome, you got to believe That right here right now you're exactly where you're supposed to be Be who you want to be, be who you are Everyone's a hero, everyone's a star When you want to give up and your heart's about to break Remember that you're perfect, God's make no mistakes Welcome to wherever you are This is your life, you made it this far Welcome, you got to believe That right here right now you're exactly where you're supposed to be Welcome to wherever you are This is your life, you made it this far (I say welcome) Welcome to wherever you are This is your life, you made it this far (welcome)
judygram
I like that xxbeccyxx and life has certainly dealt you a heavy blow but then everyone has a burden to carry of some sort, some you can see readily and some you cannot. You are so young to be facing such difficulties but I hope everything goes well for you. Thanks for the lyrics I enjoyed them immensely. :) :)

Talon
Becca, Those are very meaningful lyrics. How beautiful, and how true. I'm sorry to hear about your accident and all you've been through so far, and still have to endure. I'm sure it's difficult. But I am a firm believer that every thing happens for a reason. You may not know what that reason is yet, but one day you will.
Guest
Beccy I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. Those words (not only against your background story, but generally as well) are SO the truth, thank you sweetie

CeasarsDad
Don't listen to this song off Bon Jovi's new album Lost Highways.. It will make you cry... Seat Next To You A long slow drive down an old dirt road, You've got your hand out the window, Listening to the radio, That's where I want to be ... On an old park bench In the middle of December Cold hard rain falling, Can't find no cover That would be alright with me ... Hard Days, good times, Blue skies, dark nights Baby, I want you to take me ... Wherever you're going to Maybe say that you'll save me ... A seat next to you. In the corner booth of a downtown bar, With your head on my shoulder Smoking on a cheap cigar … That would be alright with me In the back row of A movie or a cross-town train I want to hear your voice Whispering my name ... That's who I want to be Hard Days, good times, Blue skies, dark nights Baby, say that you take me ... Wherever you're going to Maybe say that you'll save me ... A seat next to you. Life is like a ferris wheel, Spinning around When you get to the top It's hard to look down Just hang on ... We'll make it through Save me … A seat next to you When you get to the gates And the angels sing, Go to that place Where the church bells ring You know I'll come running ... Running to find you ... Baby, say that you'll take me ... Wherever you're going to Baby I want you to save me ... A seat next to you
Talon
Here's another of my favorites: Make a Memory by Bon Jovi Hello again, Its you and me Kinda like how it used to be Sippin' wine, killin' time Tryin' to solve lifes mysteries How's your life? Its been a while God, it's good to see you smile I see you reaching for your keys Looking for a reason not to leave If you don't know if you should stay If you don't say what's on your mind Baby just breathe, There's nowhere else tonight we should be You want to make a memory I took out this old photograph Look at all the hair we had It's bittersweet to hear you laugh Your phone is ringing, I don't want to ask If you go now, I'll understand If you stay here, I've got a plan You want to make a memory You want to steal a piece of time You can sing the melody to me And I can write a couple lines You want to make a memory If you don't know if you should stay And you don't say what's on your mind Baby just breathe Theres nowhere else tonight we should be we should be, we should be You want to make a memory You want to steal a piece of time You can sing the melody to me And I can write a couple lines You want to make a memory You want to make a memory

lukeyj
just one ive always loved and helped me up muchly Turn my mike up louder I got to say something Light weights step to the side when we come in Feel it in your chest the syllables get pumping People on the street they panic and start running Words on loose leaf sheet complete coming I jump in my mind and summon the rhyme, I'm dumping Healing the blind I promise to let the sun in Sick of the dark ways we march to the drum and Jump when they tell us that they wanna see jumping Fuck that I wanna see some fists pumping Risk something, take back what's yours Say something that you know they might attack you for Cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before Like it's stupid standing for what I'm standing for Like this war's really just a different brand of war Like it doesn't cater the rich and abandon poor Like they understand you in the back of the jet When you can't put gas in your tank These fuckers are laughing their way to the bank and cashing the cheque Asking you to have compassion and have some respect For a leader so nervous in an obvious way Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day In their living room laughing like "what did he say?" In my living room watching but I am not laughing Cause when it gets tense I know what might happen World is cold the bold men take action Have to react or get blown into fractions Ten years old it's something to see Another kid my age drugged under a jeep Taken and bound and found later under a tree I wonder if he had thought the next one could be me Do you see the soldiers they're out today They brush the dust from bullet proof vests away It's ironic at times like this you pray But a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday There's bombs in the buses, bikes, roads Inside your market, your shops, your clothes My dad he's got a lot of fear I know But enough pride inside not to let that show My brother had a book he would hold with pride A little red cover with a broken spine On the back, he hand-wrote a quote inside When the rich wage war it's the poor who die Meanwhile, the leader just talks away Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day both scared and angry like "what did he say?" with hands held high into the sky so blue the ocean open ups to swallow you
pearllyn
This is called Eagle when she flies by Dolly Parton, and when I sing it lately, I have a bit of trouble finishing it due to the lump in my throat. Suffice it to say my mum loves the song, and Dolly Parton was one of my Dad's favourites... She's been there, God knows she's been there, She's seen and done it all, She's a woman she know's how to give it out or take it all, Her hearts as soft as feathers, still she weathers stormy skies, And she's a sparrow when she's broken, but she's an eagle when she flies. A kaleidascope of colours you can turn her round and round, You can keep her in your vision, but you'll never keep her down, She's a lover, she's a mother, she's a friend, and she's a wife. And she's a sparrow when she's broken, but she's an eagle when she flies. Gentle as the sweet magnolia, strong as steel, her faith and pride. She's an everlasting shoulder, she's the leaning post of life. She hurts deep and when she weeps, she's just as fragile as a child. And she's a sparrow when she's broken, but she's an eagle when she flies. She's a sparrow when she's broken, but she's an eagle when she flies. Oh, bless her lord. She's an eagle when she flies. pearllyn
They are aren't they? i love this thread. This is another that puts a lump in my throat. For those that don't know, I believe it's a father singing to his son who has been called off to battle. Lyrics can be all the more moving I think when you know the story behind them. Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen and down the mountain side The summer's gone, and all the roses falling It's you, It's you must go and I must bide But come ye back when summer's in the meadow Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow It's I'll be here in sunshine, or in shadow Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so But when ye come and all the flowers are dying If I am dead, and dead I well may be You'll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me And I shall hear tho' soft you tread above me And o'er my grave will warmer, sweeter be Then you will bend and tell me that you love me And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me
Luvparrots
My favorite song: Memory (Cats) Midnight, not a sound from the pavement Has the moon lost her memory? She is smiling alone In the lamplight, the withered leaves collect at my feet And the wind begins to moan Memory, all alone in the moonlight I can smile at the old days I was beautiful then I remember the time I knew what happiness was Let the memory live again Every street lamp seems to beat a fatalistic warning Someone mutters, the street lamp gutters And soon it will be morning Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise I must think of a new life And I mustn't give in When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory, too And a new day will begin Burnt out ends of smokey days The stale cold smell of morning A street lamp dies, another night is over Another day is dawning Touch me! It's so easy to leave me! All alone with the memory of my days in the sun If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is Look, the new day has begun. Acappella
Just remember, you asked for touching. Amanda Marshall "Beautiful Goodbye" Fed up with my destiny and this place of no return, I think I'll take another day and slowly watch it burn, It doesn't really matter how the time goes by 'cause I still remember you and I, and that beautiful goodbye We staggered through these empty streets, laughing arm in arm, The night had made a mess of me, Your confessions kept me warm. I don't really miss you, I just need to know, Do you ever think of you and I, and that beautiful goodbye? When I see you now, I wonder how I could've watched you walk away If I let you down, please forgive me now, For that beautiful goodbye, In these days of no regrets I keep mine to myself, And all the things we never said I can say for someone else, Nothing lasts forever but we always try, And I just can't help but wonder why we let it pass us by When I see you now, I wonder how I could've watched you walk away If I let you down, please forgive me now, For that beautiful goodbye Baby what can I do? Ough-ta get through to you and sometimes I cry It's a fool's lullaby Oh, I, I'm dying inside
