ramsabi Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Hi Everyone, Friend of mine sent this link and I thought the news room is the best place to post this. This cockatoo is 67 years old and still going strong !! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/4985813/Parrot-pictured-with-Winston-Churchill-still-drawing-a-crowd-after-67-years.html
judygram Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 That is amazing, we know some of our avian companions can and do live long lives but to actually see one that old is wonderful, thanks for sharing that link with us.
dorisandfids Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Are there any members on this site who have geriatric parrots - or are they all pretty much just young birds? It would be great to hear some stories about some of our senior parrot friends.

Post edited by: dorisandfids, at: 2009/03/14 17:52
Luvparrots Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Thanks for sharing this great article with us Ramsabi. It brought a smile along with the history.
she Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Dorisandfids,My cousin has a 40 odd year old grey called Blue He was wild caught in Africa and my cousin bought him on one of his first trips to sea in the Merchant Navy. Blue is one of the most well ajusted birds I have seen. Mind you if he does not know you or takes a dislike to you watch out, his bites are leathal. I mind him when my cousin goes on holiday and he is as sweet as pie with me. I think only myself and cousin handle him. He does not like my cousins wife but she can feed him if she is carefull.I have made posts about Blue before and if you look at my profile, I have some photos of him. Also a photo is i the photograph room. Sheila.
Luvparrots Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Shelia I love it when you talk about Blue. I look forward to hearing about him. So when will he next be visiting you?
she Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Janet I hope Blue visits soon, I love minding him.I suspect it will be in the summer. I always feel like I am being put in charge of a family treasure when I mind him. He gets spoilt rotten.I was talking to my cousin the other day and Blue was shouting away in the back ground.
Luvparrots Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Thanks for the info Sheila, can't wait for the summer then!!
