Bronxboomer
I was thinking about buying a Nesco Food Dehydrator to keep all my Greys food fresh and Healthy. Has anyone done this.

I borrowed a dehydrator from my in-laws and dehydrated some bananas and apples. Gina loves the dried bananas but won't touch fresh ones. I guess it's they crunch, she doesn't like messy foods. I feel it's a good idea, because you can always keep some of the fruit on hand without having to worry about spoilage.

Post edited by: Number6, at: 2007/06/07 05:
Guest Monique
I've never tried this. Some of the premade food I buy has some dried fruits in it but my birds definitely still enjoy the fresh. So even if you buy one I would still give them fresh foods of some type each day, if that is posssible.
Caspersmum
Hey bronxboomer, I've never even HEARD of a food dehydrator! We're obviously very behind the times in the UK! I'd go along with what Moniques says though - Casper loves dried banana chips, but I think variety is the spice of a birds life - in the wild they'd be able to eat all sort of fresh food. I'd stick with the fresh stuff if its not too difficult for you to get hold of it, Julia
Number6
I agree. The dehydrator is a good thing to have around, because you can process your own dried mixes, but you still should feed a variety of fresh fruits.
