ramsabi
My name is Ram and I am an Indian who lives and works in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman in the Middle East. A wonderful CAG about eight months old has made me his (gender assumed. I have a tiel that is female, so we are hoping that Rishi is male.)friend and we call him Rishi (which is Sanskrit for a sage or seer). He has been with us for about 2 months now and we are already inseparable, much to the jealousy of my tiel.

judygram
Hello Ram and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Rishi. Well I am sure you are not ignoring the tiel for Rishi but you do have to be careful you devote equal time to each and special time one on one so neither feels left out. Maybe you can tell us in some more detail how you came about to get Rishi and I assume from how you said it that he chose you and not vice versa, those stories are always so endearing to hear. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them and ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Rishi you would share with us we would love to see them.
ramsabi
Thanks everyone, Yes Judy. I am dividing my time equally. I have had my cockatiel ("Pakshi" - Sanskrit for Bird !!) for 4 years now and she is devoted to me and so is extremely jealous now but I am sure I can bring her around. How I got Rishi is interesting. I went to the pet shop looking for a male tiel for Pakshi. And there was this intelligent, beautiful bird sitting on a perch and making endearing noises. I went closer to the perch and he just clambered up my shoulder and started nipping my ear and crooning. The next thing I remember is sitting in my car with Rishi next to me instead of the cockatiel that I had gone to get !! I have posted a few pictures already in the Photo Album section. Thanks everyone again and looking forward to continuing to post in the other forum rooms.
judygram
You may have to keep Pakshi as first bird, meaning that you do things for her first so she knows her place since she was there first, that should help but with time I am sure she will realize she has to share your time with Rishi. Then it was meant for you to have Rishi, he knew he liked you from the moment he met you and that is so sweet but that is how a lot of greys have made it into our lives, they choose us and not vice versa, thanks for sharing that story with us. I will check out your profile for the pics, thanks.
