When to stop baby food

Ice

Recommended Posts

Hey all.

My Grey's name is Roxy, she is 4 months and 1 week old today. She goes crazy if I don't give her her formula in the morning and at night.

How old must she be before she will start eating other foods? Recently I started mixing her formula with some cooked vegetables, but eats very little of the veggies.

Please help?

Hi there and welcome, Max is about the same age he is 3 months & 22 days. He started to refuse his baby formula about a week ago, but before that I slowly introduced him to all different food etc. What I do now is a cook up some Carrots, Sweet Potato & Gem Squash Pumpkin, then a mash all of these together and mix it with a more coarse baby formula. This I mix every morning and evening and he eats all of this up everyday. During the day there are some seeds and pellets available for him and 1 or 2 treats and some fresh water.

So to answer your Question I think keep on feeding her the baby formula it is of no harm to her but starving her would be. Just as long as she is eating then she would be fine. But try to put out a few veggies everyday for her she will eat them soon, it takes time and what you could do is try and eat some infront of her that she sees that you are eating it and let somebody praise you for eating it. Then if she eats it praise her too for eating, it works for me when I try to introduce something to Max.

Good luck keep us up to date with her progress.

Post edited by: splint101, at: 2007/06/05 10:17

Hi there Bekkie, what you could do is keep on putting him/her back on the stand and say stay here in a firm voice or NO Flying. With Max I am still learning him to stay still. The thing is they are still very young and they want to be with you and explore there surroundings. Max will only fly to me when I am busy preparing his dinner or

Breakfast, and sometimes he will fly to my shoulder if I walk past his cage. I am learning him to only fly on command. So far he is doing very well. So yeah it takes time just keep on putting him back on the playstand. Good luck and keep us up to date.

yeah im havig trouble with brian flying to my head or shoulder when i go to leave the room, i know this is only because he wants to come with me and explore and i take him if i am only going to get dressed or make the bed, but he is learning now that he can only come if i say "are you coming" and offer him my hand. if i don't he's starting to just stay put.

as for the baby food thing i ran out of formula before brian was fully weaned (aaargh!) and had to get zupreem weaning pellets. i think this worked out pretty well as you could soak them to different softness/hardness' etc so it got him used to more solid foods. he was 4 months yesterday and is completely weaned.. has been for a week or so. he now eats harrisons high potency and any fruit/veggie you put infront of him! infact i've yet to find something he turns his beak up at completly.
