Hi all

Recommended Posts

Heya everyone so glad i came across your forums, i read through all the info everyday now:)

My name is Helen mom to 5 kids a dog and a hamster.

We recently lost our Blue fronted amazon Max who was nearly 10 years old he died suddenly. Which broke all our hearts as we have had him since a baby. Even with the children the house seems so quiet he has deff left a big hole in our hearts.

My husband thinks it would be good to get another parrot and discussed it with the kids although he/she wont replace max it will help fill the emptiness and sadness at his loss.

We have done a lot of research and got so much info from here we have decided on a grey, we found a breeder in our area and she has eggs at the moment.

So we are just waiting for the call next week as to what babys she will have available so fingers crossed.

If all goes well we should have our new baby in may/june if we have to wait longer i dont care it gives us more time to get prepared and learn everything we can before the arrival.

We are all so excited but trying not to build my hopes up too much incase there is a problem.

Sorry for the long winded post.

Post edited by: Astrolady, at: 2009/03/06 14:50

Hello Helen and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you are getting.

Long winded, never you haven't seen long winded yet:lol:

I am so sorry to hear of your loss and the house can be too quiet when you are used to having the sounds of a bird in the house, makes a difference.

I am so glad you did the research first to decide if a grey is right for you and your family, wish everyone did then it wouldn't be so many in rescue and rehome situations.

Yes we do have a lot of helpful information in our many threads so continue to read thru them and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.

As soon as you pick one out and see it please take some pictures and share them with us, we just love to look at the babies, they are so adorable when so young.

Hi Helen! I'm sorry to hear about your recent loss of Max. It really is heartbreaking to lose one because they become another part of your family. Let us know any questions you may have regarding greys and keep us updated in your quest to get a baby.
