edillon5063
Indy is doing really great except when he's out all he wants to do is chew on me! He's beaking way to hard and I can't get him to stop. I read some older threads that say tell him "no bite" and stop playing with him. So I tell him "no bite" and put him on his playtop, or try to put him back in his cage, but he hates going back into his cage so that's a process. I'm worried it takes so long to put him back in his cage, he forgets why I'm doing it! I've also tried ignoring it, so he doesn't learn that biting is a way to chase me off and he just pinches harder lol! Does anyone have any advice? Luvparrots
I am no expert but I do have a baby grey. I have had her for two months. Baby greys use their beaks all the time, they are exploring, reaching out to see what something is like. I just tell Ana Grey, "No bites," sternly but no yelling and just distract her. Talking to her calmly. There is an article in the April 2009 "Bird Talk" Baby Beaks, Young Parrots are Guided by Their Beaks. Perhaps that article will help you. Good luck. Lyric
You can also try having some small foot toys handy to give Indy to distract him from biting on you. For instance, clean popsicle sticks, small nuts, plastic lids to water bottles or actual toys. When he gets beaky give him something to chew on besides you and I think this will probably help- they like to chew a lot!
