Quick question.

Hi everyone just a quick question when ever I say my greys name "charlie" he shakes his head really fast like hes shaking his head "no". Any ideas? It only happens when I say his name.

Hmm, could just be a behaviour to acknowledge when you call him.?. How old is he an how long have you had him?

He is 3 months and 10 days old I have had him for about 3 weeks now. I got him from a breeder not a pet store if that helps.

Or maybe it could be loud sounds?

Could be he knows his name or maybe he doesn't like his name and is saying no by the shake. Just kidding, but keep trying it to see if he keeps it up. Have you tried using other names or words to see if you get the same reaction?:unsure:

When I say "good bird" and some other words directed towards him he will do it. Should I get him checked out with the vet?

My Josey will shake her head from time to time but not just when I say something. I think you are describing normal behavior but if you want peace of mind by all means have him checked out.

Judy, or anyone else who might know the anwer to this, what does it mean when they shake their head forward and back several times. Talon does that when I've been gone out of the house and come back to see her. She does it every time. I can't quite figure out what she's trying to communicate to me. Any guesses??

They do this to show affection. It actually means that they are regurgitating their food to "feed" the one they love..

But she's not opening her beak, she does that at other times.
