He may have been missing this since he was hatched and sometimes I hear that the parents will sometimes chew a toe or two off, why I don't know but it happens. I wouldn't worry about it since he probably doesn't even know its missing and I doubt it hinders him in the least in getting around. As long as he is otherwise happy and healthy he is fine, forget about it.

Greys adapt very easily to missing toes and if they are hatched that way or it happens in the first few weeks before they learn to perch then they do not know they are any different than other birds and they get along fine without them.

If there is any piece of the claw left inside it will grow back, if not, it won't. Either way, it really will not affect your Greys perching or other abilities. :-)

one of maggie's claws is kind of just a little stub. doesn't stop her from swingig upside down from the top of her cage by one foot when she plays with her hanging toys :)

It is heartbreaking to hear of other's birds who are missing toes or claws due to being chewed off by their parents but they grow up not knowing they are any different from any other bird and usually they adapt very well to their "handicap":S
