baby food and squealing

Hey everyone! I'm still hand feeding brian, but have cut it down to once a day, around lunch time. he eats some pulses and fruit on a morning and looks forward to his feed. however after i've fed him, till his crop is full, he continues to make screaching noises for about 15 minutes after. even if he has gone to his food dish for more pulses. he didn't at first but he is getting more vocal as the days go on. i don't think theres anything wrong.. it's just the screaching he makes when he knows his foods coming, he just dosn't stop when it's all gone.

If his crop is full after eating and completely emptying afterwards and his weight in maintaining pretty well (may lose just a little while weaning) then I would say he is probably just fine.

I know exactly what you are talking about. My bird does the same thing. I think it is that he enjoys the attention and comfort of food and this is more what he is schreeching for. When i first brought him home it was getting bad and extremely annoying. But what most of the people here keep saying actually worked, patience. He has gotten much better about it and now only does the sounds when he his hungry. It helps if you can get his mind off of food by doing step-ups or something.

Talon used to do that when we first got her. She stoppped after we stopped giving her warm cereal or applesauce with a baby spoon.

Max is same age as yours and he screems like mad, when it comes to feeding time. But screems for about 5 min after feeding then he is off to his food dish and starts eating or more missing around there.

yeah that's exactly what he does. sounds like it's a pretty normal thing, it probably is just that they enjoy the comfort of the warm food and contact they get from us when being fed... which is far better than being in a cage with cold seeds/pulses/pellets etc, if i had a choice i know which i'd choose :P . i'd keep him out after feeding cept he usually needs to poop , haha.

My grey did not scream like that when I first got her. I have been spoon feeding her the first meal of the day for as long as I have had her. Must just be the different personality of the individual birds.
