Hi everyone, my name is Jennifer and I got my first Timneh three weeks ago. S/he is without name because I am still waiting on the sexing results I also have cats and dogs as well as two young human children, two boys.

 

I have been a lurker here for a few months reading everything I can about grey's before getting one. I actually got him by surprise. He was from a bird store and I visited him a few times before deciding on getting him. He has already learned some whistles, been making up his own and can say some words which I cannot understand yet. His words sound like gibberish, but I know they are words. He is 4 months old.

Hello Jennifer and welcome to the family, so glad you could finally join us, sure you can read thru the threads by lurking but it is more fun to be able to ask questions and join in on the discussions and make new friends along the way.

 

So is this your first parrot? How old are your young children? We don't recommend you allowing too much interaction with a grey with young children, they are usually too quick moving and too loud for greys to be comfortable around them and they might be bitten and a bite from a grey to a youngster could leave a scar.

 

You have undoubtedly learned a lot from reading the many threads and we do have many knowledgeable members who are more than willing to give you some advice, all you have to do is ask and we will help you in any way we can.

Hi Jennifer, welcome to the family. Before I got my Timneh, I wrote down a zillion names and in the end I named her out of the blue with a name not on my list. The right name will come to you and when it does it will seen so right! Hope you get a chance to post some pictures, we do so love pictures!!! So glad you decided to join us!!!
