bebo08
I was wondering if my 6 months Timneh "Keemo" eat cooked meat?
nims
Hi Bebo, Yes your timneh can eat meat but you need to make sure it is well cooked. Some members give their greys chicken bones so they can pick off the meat and eat the marrow which is good for them. Two things though; as mentioned before please make sure that the meat is well cooked before offering it to your grey and only offer meat once in a while. BaxtersMom
Yes, my flock loves chicken meat and the chicken bones. Haven't really tried giving them anything else but my conure will eat anything!!!! We don't feed him meet but sometimes after dinner we will find him in the kitchen eating our leftovers. Thats when we discovered he loved the ham we cooked at Thanksgiving:ohmy: But I would agree with Nims, I wouldn't feed it very often and make sure it's well cooked. Carolyn
It is recommended that red meat not be given to any parrot, or any meat that has been cured in salt. Also loose lunch meats contain a lot of additives that they dont list. But chicken and turkey and the bones are wonderful for them but again in moderation. casper
My three love chicken as a treat! Like Carolyn said, only give in moderation.
judygram
Josey loves chicken and occasionally gets a little wild turkey, dove or pheasant. One word of caution if you give your grey a chicken bone to knaw on and break down so they can get to the marrow inside, keep an eye on them while they have it to make sure they don't injure themselves with a sliver that can break off during the crunching process. BaxtersMom
I didn't think the ham was the best for Bonkers being cured in salt:unsure:
Carolyn
For the amount he would eat Erika, I would not worry about the occasional treat, he doesn't get salt in his normal diet on an everyday basis. Even Mika has the occasional potatoe chip, and thats got salt. I think when they say cured in salt they mean as a steady diet. Carolyn
Meat is not a staple of any parrots diet and should only be given in moderation, that goes for dairy as well. Carolyn & Mika
