Guest Monique
Well Isaac is about 4 months & 1 week old today (Hatch Date = January 8th). He has started to lose his baby voice and speak a lot of gibberish. He doesn't seem to be shy. He'll "talk" if I'm in the room or not. A few days ago he was mocking the Sun Conure, Nevaeh. She would make her squawk and then he would do it after her (not exactly the same but close). And back and forth they went. We are working right now to teach him his colors about 3 times a week. I've never taught my other birds anything like this so we will see if it works or not . For my birthday a few days ago I got the book "For the LOVE of Greys" by Bobbi Brinker. I highly recommend this book. At this point, I am only about 1/2 way through it. Bobbi gives very good advice and her point of view shows so much love and respect for the Grey - it is absolutely wonderful!
CeasarsDad
Thanks for the reference on the book... Did I hear you say you had 2 Sun Conures.. Ahhh.. Same like me. One is the normal sun colored and the other is a bit larger and is Grey all over with a Red Tail.. At least you would think that in the morning around here. Ceasar picked up the Sun Conure's call the same day we brought the conure home.. Good thing I love these birds..
judygram
My grey picked that up from my sun conure too. Hard to tell sometimes which one it is. I have that book also, very good information.
CeasarsDad
Hey Judy. Does your sunny talk?
Guest Monique
Oh. I only have one Sun Conure. One Sun Conure. One GW Macaw. And one TAG. And someday (maybe) an Amazon. But I'm a tad scared of the Amazons so we will see  . And then I always say maybe someday when I retire a Cockatoo, also. Then I go read articles about them and say, well, maybe not. My Sun Conure doesn't officially talk but she makes jibberish noises like Greys do when Greys learn how to talk. When she does this she believes she is talking and I respond appropriately or if I didn't I am sure she would be quite devastated  . It is a good thing that it's Isaac and not her sitting by me while I type this! Isaac will keep my secret!!
