Whatchamacallit

Ok, here is something that I created yesterday. It is made of several different kinds of wood blocks (some I had to drill myself) a plasic food container lid, several plain rawhides (died in food coloring), some party favor airplane propellers (I only used the propellars) brightly colored soft fleece material, some craft sticks and couple acrylic dangly key chains.

 

I strung all the pieces up, cut a few holes in the plastic lid to hang the fleece and the dangles from, put a couple more wood blocks on top and walah! It's a whatchamacallit.

Baxter my grey was the only one who didn't like it. He has more simple taste and doesn't like all the bells and whistles on things so I just made him one with wood blocks and rawhides which was more to his liking;)

Ok, if you insist:woohoo: We had family night with toy making and Here is one my husband made. It's called "Firemen on a Rope" :laugh: You can also use cowboys and indians or army men. They can be found in the kids toy section of any store. Just tie them to the string and hang. Great ideas, Erika! Maxi is definitely drawn to simpler toys, too - I'll bet she'd like that firemen on a rope one! She still seems to think a two spools on a rope is just about the perfect afternoon playmate.

I guess you could call this a Wahtchamacallit Variation! I used some 1/4 inch twine, and loop braided it with a technique I remembered from camp about 30 years ago.

 

 

 

I secured it to the lower perch in Gracie's cage, and to the top of the cage. She uses it constantly to travel between perches. Somtimes she hangs on sideways and chatters up a storm in some CAG gibberish, and whistles to me. Alas, no talking yet.
