update on Paco

joking

Recommended Posts

Well Paco has been home for about 8hrs and all is going well I think. We brought his cage and all his toys from my ex. within minutes after getting him settled he was taking food from us. He seems to like apples, carrots and scrambled eggs the best out of all the foods we tried. He is now talking up a storm, some thing not so good, seem he knows some bad words. He let my son and husband Ty rub his head, but I can not get near him. I am guessing he like males better. Will post some pic in the next few days.

Thats great he is talking already, most do not for a few days while they are settling into a new living arrangement but he must feel comfortable.

He may prefer males at this point in his life but that does not mean you cannot have a good relationship with him. Just keep talking to him and you be the one to give him treats, that way he will learn you are good for at least one thing. He may never come to accept you as much as he does your husband and son but I think with a lot of time and much love on your part you might be able to sway him to trust you.

I am anxious to see some pictures of Paco so as soon as you can manage it post some for us to enjoy.

Great news that Paco is home with you. Sounds like he is settling in pretty good, too. Especially if he is talking already. Hope the bad words aren't too bad. Maybe he will forget them in time. I got my grey when he was 12 years old last July and he doesn't hardly say any of the words that he came with anymore. Hopefully, the will drop the bad language but will probably continue if he hears it from you guys, too. Keep us posted on him and I can't wait to see some pictures.

What a wonderful update!

Like Erika said, hopefully in time he will forget the bad words. Just ignore him when he says them!

He sounds as though he has settled in very well, a lot of greys can be very quiet when they come to their new homes so this is a good sign.

I cant wait to hear more about Paco and see some pictures.

Thanks for the tips. I will keep giving him treats and see what happens. I think he had a poor diet, just a guess by what kinds of food he came with. Lots of salt products and even some candy.:woohoo: We have already been giving him more fruits and veggies. going to get him some different food today.
