CeasarsDad
Hi again. this is getting to be a habit.. Go to the food forum and read the posts about Harrison's diet. It is widely known to be the best there is when it comes to feeding parrots. I suggest you get you bird on that diet as soon as you can. All the other "stuff" IS wasting money. You should also visit www.harrisonsbirdfood.com You are gonna waste money in the beginning. It take time to convert your bird to Harrisons and their stuff has no preservatives so it can't be left in the bowl for days on end. Don't put vitamins in his water. A good diet will negate the need for any. There.. see that, I am already saving you money..
Guest Monique
We buy frozen vegetable mixes that we keep in the freezer plus every week I buy a few fresh fruits and veggies "just" for the birds (only costs a few dollar). Each day they get some fruit, veggies, or otherwise in with their morning or evening meal of pellets and/or seeds. Sometimes they get something different. Yesterday it was oatmeal. Could be a scrambled egg. Monday was strawberries and bananas. Thursday we sliced peppers and a carrot/grean bean/pea/corn mix. The main thing with birds is they can be like children. You can feed them the same thing 7 times and they will not touch it. Then the 8th time they decide they want some. So stay persistent and patient. If you are weaning seeds to pellets that can take a lot of time and a few tries. Harrison's bird food site pointed to above has a link about converting your bird onto pellets that is a good starting point. I agree with Ceaser no vitamins are needed in the water.
