Because this picture I took would have looked really cool, but instead of sky there's a bunch of white. You see, the problem with photography is that it's a poor substitute for our eyes.. Our eyes can see the brightest bright and the darkest dark with no problems. We automatically adjust for this and everything looks great. With cameras either digital or film, there is only a certain amount of Dynamic range that can be captured. In other words the range between light and dark. With cameras this range is a fraction of what our eyes are. So the camera can't expose for your horse AND the shy. The range of brightness is too much. So what to do about this.. 2 things.. You good with photoshop? You can take 2 shots. One exposed for the horse and the other exposed for the sky. In photoshop you can combine these two shots to make one beautiful shot with your horse and BLUE sky. The other way is to use a graduated Neutral Density Filter. This would filter the light in the top part of the photo so your camera can record a less brite scene. Making sense? If not just ask.. See Ya Kiddo.. We have lots of great folks here that want to learn how to use their cameras better. What better photographic subject then an African Grey parrot? I can't think of any... (It's actually one of the best pics I've yet taken using el cheapo.) Thanks for your help. I'm still hunting for that million dollar shot of Zoe. I'll post it just as soon as I bag it! I told you your camera is capable to better shots then you were taking with it. Keep it up. Remember to maintain your min focus distance of at least 3 feet.. Keep Posting.. Talon Posted May 15, 2007 Share Posted May 15, 2007 I am by no means a photographer, but thought I'd download a picture of what I get to look at next to my house everyday. This is Mt. Sugarloaf, and it overlooks 9 towns. You can hike up it or drive up it. Very nice view from the top. I feel very lucky to be able to see this everytime I walk outside. It's beautiful in the fall as well. Kruger Park View Bug Elephant Giraffe Lion Some kind of Lizard Monkey Some bird they call it a Pou in Afrikaans Three Rondawels by the Blyderiver Canyons God's Window this is just outside Sabie Some waterfalls.
