poodlenparrot
My cousin surprised me with a HUGE order of bird food. This is the package she purchased: http://www.mybirdstore.com/SALE_ITEMS-_B_NEW_EXTRA_VALUE_FOOD_BUNDLE_FOR_MED_BIRDS_B_.html In addition to that she also bought a 5lb bag of Harrison's. Obviously, it will take a long time to use this up. I have never purchased bird food in bulk before. How should I store this? I'm thinking I should freeze it, correct? Thanks in Advance, Melissa

Post edited by: poodlenparrot, at: 2008/11/10 16:
BaxtersMom
Wow, wish I would get a package like that:woohoo: You have a very nice & generous cousin:) . I think freezing it would be the best way. My pet store suggested if I bought in bulk to freeze it, problem is, I don't have that much freezer space in order to do that. I was also told to atleast keep the dried fruit in the fridge so it wouldn't dry out. Hopefully, some others who buy in bulk can give you some more suggestions. Lyric
Yes, freezing is the way to go. It will keep the food fresh longer, keep it from harboring any insects or attracting any rodents. What a nice cousin, do you have room in your family for one more?
Patsy
Wow, your cousin treats you well. I would have the same question about how to store that much parrot food.

SchroedersJen
Yes, freeze it, and if she is in the mood to send a birdy care package before you are ready for a refill, feel free to have it shipped here, I will hang on to it for you. It may or may not be here when you are ready for it.
