LindaMary
Hi Wisewun1! I haven't moved with a grey, but I have several times with a budgie (sorry I know NOTHING about conures!) I don't know how far you are moving : are you driving? flying? My moves with a budgie were by car: from Maine to Texas and back. I really just worried about drafts and loud noises. My budgie was completely okay with it all: his cage was on the car seat next to mine (strapped in of course). A vet (not an avian vet) suggested I squeeze a grape a day into the bird's water - sure didn't seem to hurt him, but who knows what it did for him. My point is: ask an avian vet for suggestions. Otherwise, I would expcet your birds will be most comfortable the closer they are to you: like if you can talk to them regularly and reassure them that all these strange noises and things are okay. Good luck - keep us posted !
Luvparrots
Where are you moving to, Mars??? You know that this forum is worldwide. So moving, unless its to Mars or the Moon, isn't going to get you off the hook for keeping in touch with your real bird family!!! So DJ forget about the writing us off!!! :silly:

LindaMary
Oh, I think you are all set, then, DJ! I really think birds are totally okay with road trips - my budgie got driven all over half the country, and Maxi is also just fine with a drive. The main thing is that they feel like (1) they are safe (no drafts, no predators, enough food & water...) and (2)you are there. After that, it's all good ! dblhelix
Hope the move goes well. The birds will be fine as long as you are fine and minimize the obvious no no's like excessive heat, drafts and household dangers. Other than that, they key so strongly off you that if you are at peace with the whole thing they will be too. Dont worry, be happy...seriously, and all will be fine! Keep us posted. Tycos_mom
I just got a new bird that was delivered to me he traveled in the back of a station wagon in a cat carrier with no perch for 10 hours then I met the 100 miles from my home and he traveled another 2 hours in a nice travel cage made for birds and he is 6 years old so he's not a baby. I though for sure he was going to be totaly stressed out but he wasn't he settled in very quickly. I'm sure your birds will be just fine also as long as you are not stressed and take it all in stride I'm sure your birds will also. Just make sure they don't get a draft or over heated while traveling mabie you can cover the cage for them and they will probubly love the little adventure and settle into their new home in no time at all

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/11/07 13:
