lighting source for George

Ok all the windows in my house for some reason has a peice of furniture in front of it. So I can't put George in front of a window to get son light. and I'm not ready to try and put another cage that can go out side. So should we invest in a light source for him. and is the heat that comes from the light he needs or is it just for the light?

Thanks

Marla and George

Hello Marla,

Sunlight coming through a window does not provide the necessary portions of light to benefit your Grey. The glass blocks most the UVA and UVB they need. Also, lighting is not used as a heat source for your Grey if your house becomes that cold in the winter. There are heated perches and other types of heating devices you can purchase if needed.

To truly understand lighting and why it is needed for your birds when you are unable to take them out in full sunlight, please go to this thread where you will find all the information you need on lighting:
