Toxifera
I was wondering if anyone has had any positive experience with the material Chet Womach has put out? I am a beginner and I am trying to find any material I can on CAG training. I know some of you are going to think I am stupid  but I purchased and have just received his bird training program, and his bird speech training program. I have a 30 day evaluation period before I commit to it. Any advice or comments are much appreciated.
siobha9
I think Chet Womach has some very good marketing tools I think some of his techniques probably do work to an extent, but I have a problem with the "training diet" where he encourages you to withold a quantity of food to make your bird hungry so they will work harder for treats. Personally I just use their favourite treat for training purposes. I also dont like his method of training the bird not to bite using sticks. I prefer the patience and softly softly approach to "earn your birds trust"! I dont have the material, but what I've read concerns me. We have lots of information on the forum you can use to teach your bird, anything from potty training to lying on its back. Just use the search box in the top corner;) What do you think of it so far? Does it make any sense? Are there any useful tips you can share with us?
Toxifera
I am still evaluating the material. I don’t exactly agree with the training diet either. At least he stated that the training diet is not an acceptable way to train your baby parrot, they need to free feed a balanced diet. So far I like what I see. If I discover anything interesting I will most certainly let everyone know.
allena
I am currently using this method. I haven`t gone into the talking part yet. Mainly because he already speaks. The training diet seems to work OK. I give him his morning food to eat and then take it away after an hour or so. Then after a couple hours we do a 15-20 minute session. He then gets his food back for an hour and repeat the process in the evening. He then gets all he wants before bedtime. The only thing I with hold him from eating is the dried bannana chips I use for rewards. His pellets are weighed daily (30grams), the rest of his diet is fruits and veggies and a nut or two.
