Luvparrots
I tried to search for this topic in past posts and could not find answers to my questions. So here goes. Do Greys need gravel in their diets to help with digestion? I have been looking through catalogs and have seen gravel and crushed oyster shells for parrots to eat. Is this something that should be given regularly? Also, what about vitamins. Should you give your grey vitamin supplements if you plan on giving them a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables and pellets?? I appreciate your help with this.:cheer:
dhorje
I do give my grey vitamins. My grey is quite a picky eater. Since most of the fruits are stored, vitamins potency is lost.
lovemyGreys
I think you mean grit, not gravel & the answer is no they dont need it.Only birds who cannot break the hull of the seed need any, and then only a small amount. Forget the grit as it can cause blockages and impactions in your parrot! vitamin supplements is a debatable one.If your grey is getting a varied diet then they should be getting all the vitamins the need. Some members do give vitamins along with a calcium supplement. It's a matter of choice
Luvparrots
Thanks for the help dhorje. I really appreciate your input Tracy. I guess I'm really showing my lack of knowledge concerning greys. Still have so much to learn. Thanks!!
