abcchan
hello everybody i've got a 10-month old grey (a boy), and he's currently on a balanced diet of pellets, vegetables, and fruits (and an occasional nut). but he absolutely LOVES his formula feed at night before bed. i've been feeding him this formula since i got him (around 4-5 months old at the time). should i continue giving him this formula? his weight is normal - not over or underweight. thanks! lovemyGreys
Many greys find comfort in having a hand feed.I would leave the formula off now as he is getting a very balanced diet.Offer him a hand feed in the evening, perhaps some warm oatmeal, baby food or a combination of both.My flock love a few spoon fulls of warm food in the evening & it's good to keep up this in case of the event you need to administer any medication in the future
Tycos_mom
Tyco won't take a hand feeding anymore but Fergie My Amazon loves the occational shringe full of formula and she is 11 yrs old. I had yo habd feed my GCC and My baby Teil for awhile because Tyco bit my GCConures top mandable off so I hand fed him for about 8 months until his beak grew back enough that he could eat on his own again. I started giving the rest of my birds what ever was left that my Conure didn't eat and Fergie loved it.
masterid
Don't keep using hand feeding. Don't make it habitual or addicted for this thing. Train him for something else also. Even I was using this formula. But now I make it off. I love my birds. I have Parakeet and Grey in my maxi bella cage.

Post edited by: Talon, at: 2008/10/13 15:
