I got a new African Grey parrot today. She has red feathers on her belly and actually a little on her back under her wings. The person who was caring for her told us that this was from the breeder breeding lets say . . . a great great grandfather with his great great granddaughter to keep desired traits in the AGs. I'm just wondering if this has any adverse effects or really any information on this. I've tried to look up any information online and couldn't find any. Any information would be greatly appretiate! ;)

Its what we call a red factor grey, some greys have red feathers in among the grey that may or may not molt out but it is nothing to be alarmed about, it is only feather coloring and does not harm them in any way.

I haven't seen my baby Tag yet, but talk to the breeder weekly. She has been breeding for 30 years. She says my little Tag has some red feathering around her bottom and breast area by its wings. She says the decedents in Africa must have had a little hanky panky between CAG and TAG. Who knows who cares, it certainly is not harmful. Post pictures, lets take a look at your new pretty. :cheer:<br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2008/10/06 03:31
