NASY
Hi everyone,i recently read that a grey should eat cheese only once a week. I didnt know that,I will cut down ,as I was giving my grey cheese more often . I would like to ask if it is ok for a grey to eat yoghurt? Ricco realy loves it.I give it to him two times in a week ,should I stop?.I am giving it to him for the calcium. His weekly diet which i prepare for him, has lots of fruit, vegetables, rice, spaghetti and cereals.Do you think he gets enough vitamins?. I am realy careful and worried becauce I want to keep Riccoo in good health. I cant forget COOKIES loss. Thank you .Take care.
judygram
It is my understanding that yogurt is low in lactose so therefore it is ok to feed it to your grey as greys are lactose intolerant and that is why dairy products are usually forbidden foods. Someone correct me if I am wrong:huh:
lovemyGreys
Non-fat, plain yogurt in moderation is a good source of protein for parrots, once every now & then definitely not twice a week It is important for greys to have a good natural calcium source in their diet. Dark leafy greened vegetables have a high calcium level and should be offered alongside a pelleted/ seed based diet.Foods included in this group are.. Beet Greens Broccoli Leaves Broccoli Stem Cabbage (outside green leaves) Celery Chard Chinese Cabbage Collards (cooked) Dandelion Greens Endive Kale Kohlrabi Lettuce Dark Green Leaf Mustard Greens

dhorje
Lactose of yogurt is pre digested during fermentation. Therefore, it is fine for lactose intolerance.
