sebastianmx2
I have a question i hope someone can help me with. My grey is 9 months old and will constantly make random ANNOYING noises every time I leave the room. And I know im her flock and he is calling out to me. But it becomes so annoying because she wont stop. I call back to her. but that doesn't seem to make her relaxed. I can not be around her all the time like when im making dinner . She is making it very difficult to function or do normal chores around the house with her constant noises. She will be quiet when im in the same room with her and usually doesnt make a noise. But once I leave she just goes crazy. what should I do? I bought her all different toys but once i leave the room she doesnt car about them anymore. PLEASE HELP! sebastianmx2
Just so people dont get the wrong idea, I do spend most of the day with her when im home from work. so is that what I am doing wrong? is she too used to me? should I leave her alone more often so she is used to it or knows that im coming back? Suzzique
Are you sure she is not singing? Though Alex will sing pretty much any time he does it more when I leave the room. His song's include all the sounds he knows how to make as well as lots of chirps and whistles. Leaving her alone longer is not going to help. She could also be a closet talker. She is quite when your around but then talks when your not in the room.
BaxtersMom
Baxter does the exact same thing when I am out of his sight. He will call, whistle, go through his words & sound effects. I usually call back to him cuz it's fun for me but I always hear others tell others if they don't like something or a noise or something to just ignore it and not call back to him. If she knows it's an attention getter she may not quit. I think this is normal behavior for greys though and it may not ever stop.

siobha9
Unfortunately the only way to stop your bird making sounds you dont like is to completely ignore him. Walk out of the room if possible. Don't answer him, dont tell him to be quiet, dont show any reaction at all positive or negative. It will get worse before it gets better. If he used to scream for 10 minutes to get your attention he will try screaming for 30 to see if that will work. Then when he is making a sound you do like or is being quiet, lavish attention on him. Good luck with it;)
Tycos_mom
I think he's prububly a closet talker they usually start out that way. it will get better as he learns to talk more. then he will talk talk talk when your out of the room but I find that allot less annoying then the sound effects they make. Tyco talks in front of me now but she still talks allot more when I leave the room.
brianL23
My grey, Savage, loves to go through all of his sounds and words once I am out of site. He will whistle and say a few words when I am with him too. I am a little lucky because I have a job that does allow him to come to work with me. So I take him to work a few days a week so he is not alone all the time. If I am doing chores or whatever, I will usually take him into that room with me, if I want him to be quite. But I like to hear the different stuff he picks up on, so sometimes I will leave him alone for a bit while I am doing something just to hear his new stuff. Just the other day, I was sitting with my back to him and he said "Do you want some fried chicken?" When he does decide to talk some of the funniest stuff comes out of his mouth. I actually think it is kinda fun trying to figure out where he may have picked up a certain phrase or sound.
