ccabel Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 hi I'm new here my gray ic about 3 yrs old he has a bad habit of throwing his food can someone help
Suzzique Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 It is a totally normal behavior. All birds throw thier food.
BMustee Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Some parrots will fling food, others won't. It's kind of the luck of the draw. If you got a flinger then the only thing to do is buy a good vaccum.
tommybar Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Its true they throw food..I have put perspect behind my birds cages attached to the wall, it saves the walls and its easy to wash down and also hygeneic.
ccabel Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 thank you all for your info. Everything I read on grays in the wild I thought throwing his food was normal but gets upsetting sometimes.I thought of putting something up at the corner by his food bowl like plexi glass. What do you all think. Plus is there a web site that tells you what type of wood or trees can be used for a perch. thanks again Chris & Harley
NASY Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Hi!Ricco has latetly started throwing his food and water also .He likes to play with the water when it splashes. It is a bit difficult because I have to clean his cage more than once.I have a fealing though that this bad habit will go and come depending on his mood .Just be patient, after all he will do what he wants.
BMustee Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Putting up plexi glass is a good idea. I've been meaning to do the same thing with my finch cages.
judygram Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I have thought about putting up some plexiglass pieces on the walls behind the cage, I keep having to wash off the walls:lol:
