I bought my grey from a place called ' Our feathered friends' in san Diego Ca. They also have a larger store in Escindido Ca. called " A bird haven"

Would research breeders in your area and look into their practices and record. best information I can offer. Oh and it is always nice if you are getting a baby to find the breeder or store that will be close enough to allow you to visit on a regular basis while weening,

I located several breeders in my area and visited them, I asked for the Vet. they used and also 3 references of people they had previous sold to. I called each person and spoke to them and also if I was able to visit them. I checked what every information they supplied to me them made my decision. Prices varied but was not the main factor when I made my decision. The conditions and the references were.

This may seem a little extream but I even called the local Animal Control in there area to see if there were any complaints filed.

I purchased Mika and I am very happy, brought him home at 4 months he came DNA'ed, vet checked, and micro chiped.

We purchased Morgan, our TAG, from a breeder who was recomended to us by my husband's family. We were able to visit with them and Morgan a few times before bringing him home. He's very confident, friendly, inquisitive, and outgoing. We couldn't be happier with him.

The pet stores in my area do not sell medium or large parrots. We did purchase our sun conure from our local pet store though. Stewie is very affectionate, friendly and has a fantastic personality. We could not be happier with him. We also visited him several times and formed a friendship with him before bringing him home.

Both breeder and store hand fed the birds and spent a lot of time playing with them and handling them. They were both happy to answer all of our questions and give us great advice. Both took excellent care of our boys. They did fantastic jobs.

I feel that us being able to visit both birds while they were weaning, and being able to interact with them often enough that they reconized us and showed signs they were happy to see us was key in making our transitions home super smooth. If you are able, I definately recomend pre-homecoming visits.

Good luck with your search. :)

Yes they do! We have had 4 birds we bought 2 and taken in 2. Bella the piouns that we had was a rehome to us. She bonded with my son and he was devestated when she passed away do to illness. Then we just took in Martini at the end of July. He has boned with my daughter and loves her to death. We will only buy one more bird and that will be another piouns for my son. Any other birds will all be rehomes to us.

Prices very from one end of the country to the other. In FL their are a lot of breeders so a breeder price will be around $600-$900 and pet stores will sell around $1,000-$1,200. I have heard of Greys selling as high as $2,000 in areas where there are fewer available.

Parrots are not cheap because of the time that must be put into feeding and caring for them...I do it for a living and when I have babies it's a round the clock job. Plus, they are not cheap to own. Toys, food, vet care...it all adds up.
