Knight05
So I know it's like a common thing for greys to scratch or rub they're beak against stuff. Not sure if thats to clean it or sharpen it or trim it etc etc. Anywho chloe has done it so much that the outer layer of the top part of her beak is chipped in a couple places? Normally I would be worried but examining it, it seems like there is another layer of beak underneath it so I'm assuming that its like a finger nail? You clip it chip it etc but there another one growing underneath that will eventually replace it? Can anyone give me any insight on this? Just for peace of mind. Suzzique
Knight Yes that is exactly what is happening. Birds beaks are always growing so the outer part chips off while the newer part is underneath. This is totally normal and nothing to worry about. Janfromboone
Thank's for this post. I was wondering the same thing. Tobies beak also looks a little worn in places. Good to know this is normal.
