Do your birds food smell?

I use a specific bird pellet mix and the smell really puts me off using it.

 

I can open the window when Gizmo is in his cage but it's when I come home from work and his food has been out all day, it's really not a nice fresh smell.

 

Does anyone else have this problem??

I'd have to ask what brand you are using? I use Harrisons and I do not notice any off smell,in fact there is hardly any smell at all.:huh:

It's Pretty Bird Species Specific for African Greys.

 

It has a really strong smell too it.I'm in the UK, can you get Harrisons here?

I think so, you may have to do a search to find a supplier but in my opinion pellets should not have an overbearing smell.

Yes the pretty bird AG specific does have a smell to them. I bought a small pack of harrisons high potency coarse and Indy seems to like them so I may swap!

We use the Kaytee fruity pellets and the Zupreem Fruitblend . Their fruit smell is pretty strong, but not off putting. B)

Blue Country are you referring to kind of a sour smell?

No its not a sour smell. It's the smell of the pellet mix, I just dont like it. :sick:

I hate the smell of the Kaytee fruity pellets! As you say, when you get home and it's the 1st thing you can smell, it's yukky! I like the Harrison's pellets best, and Tuki really loves them, but they are so expensive! I mix them with the Zupreem avian maintenance natural pellets!
