I've read that it is a sign of emotion - not fear. If their wings are vibrating too they are afraid. The chest vibrating seems some times to be a positive emotion with Tobie. He does this some times when he has reason to be excited or happy.

Wow, that's good to know. I brought my CAG home tonight (she's been gone 4 years) and she was doing that too so I thought she might be frightened. She was acting in very positive ways though so it seems like a reasonable explanation to me.

i dunno with my grey when hes doing that with his wings he's scared or nervous when he does that with coupled with the wings is his begging pleeease pick me up or wants something. She being back home after such a long time to me thats nervous. Or after a bath they shiver just like us when wet, and also read they do that naturally to dry off faster
