Hi,

In Sharjah (UAE) some pet stores sell CAGs without vaccination. I bought mine from them. I am not sure if they are vaccinated.

In Dubai (another state in UAE) it is compulsory to tag/vaccine/microchip the pets. I contacted Dubai Vet Clinic and they will vaccine my bird they said.

 

My questions:

1. I am not sure if my bird is Vaccinated or not. Will a second vaccine hurt it?

2. The idiots in the shop also told me that vaccination kills the birds??????????? and not to do it. I cannot stand idiots.

 

I really cannot take the risk with mine. Please advice.

Im not completely sure on this one to be honest,none of my 4 greys have been vaccinated.From what i know it is not common practice here in the UK & as far as im aware there is no standard immunisations for African greys.

Here in the states most vets recommend your bird being vaccinated for avian polyoma virus but if you own just one bird or have had all your birds for a while and do not take them around other birds then I wouldn't worry about it. Personally I have just Roscoe my Cag and I decided against the shot for him because he will not be around other birds and plus I work for my vet and I would know when it was safe to take him to work for a yearly checkup so I would not have to worry about other birds there to pass anything to him.

Well then I dunno if I should vaccine him and take the risk? If he is okay then he is okay! I do not trust the vets here.

sooo no Vac? I dunno I get scared of reading about all the salmonella polyomavirus and all that out there.

 

So just the microchip then I guess?

 

All my Birds' poop is all fine.
