Need advice on getting a new bird

I am thinking about getting another bird but wanted some advice before making the plunge. I did read the post of MBS (Multiple Bird Syndrome and gave it more thought. I think one more bird would be my limit. I have a CAG and a Nanday conure now but have had each less than 2 months. With that said, I found a 4 year old male Eclectus that is just gorgeous and I was wondering if I should get him. I have made arrangements to go see him, probably tomorrow. After talking with the guy I found out he had a female that he sold because they did not mate and now he is offering the male. It turns out he is a breeder. He says the Eclectus is very sweet, he talks, no bad habits and is tame and loves people. I am really anxious to see him but wondered if there was any problems with rehoming a bird that was tried as a breeder? Are there hidden things I may not be aware of or something I haven't thought of? Both my birds now have come to me as adults and I really can't say I have any problems with an older bird at all. I am concerned about Baxters reaction though. Will he be mad at me if I get another bird. Will it set him back with all the progress we have made. Also Baxter is a male and so is the Eclectus. I know they have to be housed separately but I was still wondering if they would be aggressive with each other because they are both males? I thought I should ask here before I did something I might regret later. Any advice, pros and cons would be appreciated. I do have time for another bird and could give it the attention it needs. Thanks in advance.

there is a picture of him on my profile page. His name is Tigger

I don't see a problem Erika in you getting this eclectus if that is what you want. I don't think Baxter will be mad at you just remember that Baxter has to come first so he knows his place as first bird. A lot of us have multiple birds and many different kinds of birds so if you have the time then go for it. If you handle it right there should be no problems and if there is you can always ask us for help.

I think once you know your own limits timewise and financially and stick to them, MBS is not such a huge problem. If you think that you can happily accomodate a third bird, that you would enjoy the third bird, and that it won't have a major impact on Baxter and Bonkers then go for it;)

Once you know that the bird is for you and not as a companion for the other 2 birds, because there is a high probability they won't get along as well as you might wish. I think they might be aggressive to each other, but you would just make sure that they can't actually access each other. Liath tormented my caique, landing on his cage and generally bugging him, so I moved his cage to a different room where she cant go. When I take him out, Liath is put away. Multiple birds takes a bit more logistics than just one, but you know that already from having a conure and a grey;).

I wish you the best of luck with Tiger, because I know once you see him, you will bundle him up in your jacket and bring him home!
