judygram
Oh no Susan, this is not good news at all, I am so sorry to hear it may be liver failure, your hubby must be beside himself with grief. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that it isn't that but something else that the vet can do something about, hang in there.

BaxtersMom
I was in the same spot on June 7th with my cat. She was diagnosed with kidney failure which is terminal and although they said she would only make it a couple of weeks but she is still going strong today. Don't give up and realize that even the doctors don't know exactly what is going to happen. I cried and grieved then decided I would just enjoy her every day I had her. I know its so stressful. Hopefully Buddy will hang in there and get better too. Don't give up hope.

BaxtersMom
I gave kitty the talk saying "It's up to you now. You got to fight and beat this thing, You can do it" Might be silly but I swear she heard me. It's been almost 3 months now. She's just a bit slower but is doing remarkable well. I'm pulling for Buddy!{Nature-00020095}

BaxtersMom
OMG!!! I know Buddy is really sick but this sounds like good news compared to the liver failure scare! Atleast it sounds treatable. This has made day. I have been very worried about you both. Sounds like he will need some special care at home but hopefully he will be back to normal shortly. judygram
This will be a long slow process Susan, getting him off a seed diet but it can be done. We have some threads in the bird food room that will be of help in doing that and of course we will do what we can to help you in switching him to a healthy diet. slmclean
well buddy is starting to eat pellets, i just ordered him some high potency pellets from harrison's i hope they will help him.
siobha9
That is great progress even to have him tasting pellets already. If he isnt eating enough of them be sure to offer him a little of what he likes. Considering he is sick, he needs to be eating enough to fight his illness;)
judygram
Susan that is great that Buddy is eating the pellets, I am sure that with his improved diet and your love he will improve a little every day until he is healthy again, good going girl. slmclean
just got back from buddy's appointment, the vet is very pleased how he is coming along he still needs a shot next week but she said she might wait a month after this next shot to see how he does, his weight is the same which is good she said he didnt loose anymore but she does want me to put him on the harrison pellets only no human food for now or seeds, and his feather loss she thinks is from molting he has begun molting early since he is sick but she has confidence his feathers will grow back so it looks like he is on the mends.
