Cagal08
Ok I am going to wean Roscoe on Harrison's high potency course pellets and I bought some of the Harrison power treats for weaning him onto pellets so I soaked them in very warm water and the darn things will not soften up so I am a bit disappointed with this so I want to get the Scenic Hand Weaning pellets because I have tried these years ago and they soften up nicely the only issue I have is I will be weaning him onto Harrison's diet so does anyone think the Scenic Hand Weaning pellets for weaning him will screw that up? Has anyone else tried Harrison's power treat with the same issues?
nims
Hi, I have not tried harrisons but have you to tried grinding/crushing the pellets finely then adding the warm water? I did this with my grey when she stopped eating her pellets completely and would only eat seeds. Nims
Cagal08
Well the idea is to have the whole pellet moist and drop it in their mouth so they can learn to swollow foods on their own so crushing it up would defeat the purpose. Harrison's is one of the best diets out there for birds today, it was formulated by an Avian Vet. Thanks
lovemyGreys
Try breaking it up a little, "Harrison's is one of the best diets out there for birds today, it was formulated by an Avian Vet" Yes it is a good pellet but not all greys like them & there is alternatives out there for people to try, dont want to be seen to be bias to one brand
siobha9
What about getting pellets for a smaller parrot to start with and then moving to the bigger ones later? The smaller pellets should soften easier.
Cagal08
I ordered some of the scenic because years ago I remember these soak up the water very good so hopefully Roscoe will love these.
