judygram
I know a bird has a higher body temperature than we do but hot feet, I don't know Susan, maybe you should consult a vet about that as I wouldn't want to recommend something that isn't safe.

darth_mint
Has he been exercising his feet more than usual (running around, climbing, gripping etc)? Birds tend to have cool-ish feet if they have been just sitting around, as the lack of feathers means they lose heat from the feet quite fast. However, once they start moving around and playing, the feet heat up - if you have ever had a bird climb on your arm from a sedentary position and then get excited, you'll actually feel the temperature of those little feet rise until it's hot enough to be uncomfortable. If his feet are hot ALL the time though, even when he's not been climbing or running, you might want to ask a vet.
Lyric
Sure wouldn't hurt to ask a vets opinion but I know mine has hot feet alot too, I don't think that sounds uncommon.
BMustee
Parrots body temps are around 105 degrees F...human body temp is 97 F. Parrots feet feel hot because they are much warmer than we are. It is normal for a new parrot owner to think there is something wrong or the bird is sick because of the hot feet, but don't worry there is nothing wrong with your bird. Even if they are at rest they will have hot feet, not just when they are excited. You will know if your bird is too hot because he will hold is wings away from the body and will pant.

Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2008/08/08 04:
