Congo 1st Bath

Recommended Posts

Hi Trust, love the pic of the first bath. I seen suggestions about the spray bottle. I have one and have used it on Baxter a couple of times...It just doesn't seem like he is getting enough water that way. The mist just rolls off. It looks like yours got good and wet and I might try it with Baxter in the sink, too when he's a little more comfortable with us. Did yours enjoy the bath though?

Hi Roger, cute pic. I bought a rubber bath mat from the dollar store cut it into four and place it over the drain in the sink that way if they do happen to walk around or try to fight the bath there foot cant get caught in the drain hole. As soon as Mika sees his mat and the spray bottle hes ready for the sink.

Well what I did was I placed him in the sink and softly let the water roll off my hand onto h/her. At first it started squaking and flapping wildly, it knocked the sponge to the floor and water was spraying everywhere. I managed to calm it down for a few seconds and put Congo directly under the water but just his feathers not the head. Congo was going bananas again and was trying to bite the water...lol! My wife was filming the whole thing and getting wet at the same time. My daughter took the pic and I wrestled Congo keeping him in the sink. The whole ordeal lasted about 2 minutes. I managed to wet his head by wetting my hand and then rubbing his head. I did try to wet underneath the wings and did get some water under them. I think we did ok for the first time. Next time I will have a spray bottle and a rubber mat.

She didn't know what hit her did she? Love the picture and thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Mine get baths with the spray bottle method- your hand will be tired by the time you are done (especially if you have lots of birds!) but it's so good for them. Good job!
