pmaholm
Well Joey is home and I have some pictures. We're planning on replacing her cage soon since this one is rusty. Check out the pics, some of her feathers have grown back in red.

Post edited by: pmaholm, at: 2008/08/03 03:
lovemyGreys
Joey sure is cute Yes definately replace the cage ASAP the rust will pose a health risk if any is ingested by Joey.Does Joey have a history of plucking ? Do you know if joey has always had red feathers ? I dont like to alarm you but she red feather growth is a possible sign of PBFD an avian disease, just wanted to make you aware.Do you plan on a health check with your vet ? pmaholm
I don't believe she always had red feathers, I think they may have just come in after they had plucked. However I'm not sure. I havn't seen any feathers in her cage since we got her so I think all of the plucking was her plucking Refund and him plucking himself. We are planning on a health check with the local Avian Certified vet however we were waiting just a little while so we are able to handle Refund a Joey a little better without having to towel them quite as much. Was just reading up on PBFD, We will be checking both Refund and Joey out for this. Just to be sure.
lovemyGreys
I thought it was worth pointing this out to you, please ask your vet to do some blood tests to rule out any health issues .I hope Refund & joey both get a clean bill of health
Trustdace
Wow he does have a bunch of red feathers. What causes theses red feathers? Glad to see the plucking has stopped though and good luck.B)
