veronique
Hi everyone. I want to ask a question about the Grey Parrot. I know that there are two types of them, one is the Congo African Grey, one is the Timneh African Grey. Recently, I've brought one, but I don't know whether it's CAG or TAG, because when I visit some websites, they said CAG had white patch around their eyes, and their tails were red in color. Also, they said TAG had pink patch and their tails are black in color. And, my parrot has pink patch and half-red, half-black tail at the same time. And I want to ask, Which types is it belong to? Or was it has some health problems?<br><br>Post edited by: veronique, at: 2008/07/25 14:
judygram
Veronique, what color beak does your grey have? If it is all black then it is a Cag, if the upper part of it is horn color then it is a Tag. Usually Cags have the bright red tail and the Tags have a maroon tail but there are some red factor feathers that could make it different. If you bought a baby grey then the tail feathers are going to have some grey in them until they go thru their first molt. Hope this helps. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and this new grey.
lovemyGreys
Hi Veronique, do you have a picture you could post ? Baby CAG's have red tail feathers that are edged in black, both the CAG & the TAG have white eye patches.A baby TAG with have darker tail feathers more of a maroon colour & the top of the beak will be a natural colour, the CAG's beak is all black.A TAG is far smaller than a CAG,ill put a few picture up for you to see if that helps you. TAG CAG

veronique
Thank you for your help, The information you gave is very useful. I think it is a baby CAG. And, I'm sorry that I didn't post a photo, because the size of the photo is too large, that I can't post. But again, thanks.<br><br>Post edited by: veronique, at: 2008/07/26 05:
Lyric
Also, the Congos usually have a lighter color of grey feathers all over and the Timneh's are a darker grey on their backs- charcoal colored. How old is your new little one?
