dawnstimeout Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 I am getting my carpet cleaned tomorrow and am not sure if it will hurt my grey. Do you think it would be okay if I put her in a small cage in the bathroom?
Talon Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 You should have them use pet friendly cleaners on the carpet. They usually carry both kinds. I had my carpet cleaned one time with the regular cleaner and my indoor bunny died that night :-( I wouldn't take the risk with your bird. They are much more sensitive to fumes
Laurie Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Yes, I would make sure the company is using a pet friendly detergent and also put your bird in as well ventilated area as possible.
M2MM Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 I know a fellow that did carpet cleaning for a living, and he said the best carpet cleaner was vinegar and hot water - no detergent. All his customers were very pleased with the results and no one's animals ever got sick.
slmclean Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 i have a hand held spot remover shampooier and i use the pet ordor shampoo in it and it hasnt bothered chloe, there isnt much of a smell.
dawnstimeout Posted July 27, 2008 Author Posted July 27, 2008 thank you all for the info. I really like the vinegar and water idea too. I wonder how well it works as a spot cleaner
kevinyount958 Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Generally I clean my carpet through vinegar cleaner to remove the stain and dirt or baking soda is also a good option for cleaning the carpet.
kins2321@yahoo.com Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I guess I'm not a great parent! I use Stanley carpet cleaning service every four months for past ten years. Granted, birdroom is three rooms away, All hardwood floors other than family room that is carpeted.I only worry about fumes with painting, and hardwood floor restoration. Nancy
