Leg band ?

I have a question. My husband wants to have the leg band removed. He says it must be a nuisance, and doesnt think that Adaya is comfortable with it. She does mouth the band and leg area at times. I'm concerned with the dangers of removal. What are your thoughts on this?

I know leg rings/bands do cause some greys irritation & they do chew on it & even pluck a little around the surrounding area,while others take no notice of them.Im sure a competent avian vet could remove it with little effort.

i was thinking of removing hers to she is always chewing on it.

Avian vets have a tool that removes bands with little effort...it takes like 2 seconds to do.

If its bothering her I would have it removed only 2 of my 6 birds have band and I don't think they are at all nessesary unless your planning on breading so you can keep trak of who's who otherwise they are prettymuch useless if you lose your bird there is verylittle chance that a band is going to help you get it back so I would have it removed.

I chose to not have the band put on my grey, I have it if I need it but I had heard about some birds being bothered or even harmed from them.

I guess the only reason we have ours on is in case we lose the birds. Then if someone calls the police to report it the police will know how to track us down. Otherwise I would also get rid of it.
