Mel
I set up a toy with calculator paper rolls. I am wondering if this allows them to mimick nesting behavior which in turn prompts sexual behavior??? I was told not to allow my Macaw to tear at phone books because of this. Any input from experienced owners???
siobha9
I let my greys shed paper all the time and I have never noticed any nesting behaviour. They are both still quite young though. I think if your grey is enjoying playing with it, let him, and if in the future you do notice nesting behaviour take it away at that point;) I wouldnt deprive him of 5 or 6 years of pure destructive fun just in case something might happen. And as we all know, there is nothing a grey enjoys more, than destroying things:blink:

Mel
Is the appx sexual maturity age 5 to 6? I'm not even sure what sexual behavior is but I guess we have a few years before concern. Thanks!

Zpyder
Winston gets so much joy out of killing a paper towel roll that I can't imagine taking that away from him. I do think it was puberty that got him where he was before he came to live with me so I would plan on being incredibly patient when the time comes.
