kitt79
Starbuck has found an absolutely ear-piercing sound (literally.... my ears will ring, or i'll go deaf in one ear for several seconds afterwards). "no" doesn't work. immediately leaving the room doesn't work completely ignoring it doesn't work. ideas?
judygram
I am afraid ignoring it is about all you can do for if you react to it then she will continue to do it more, maybe in time she will do it less and less.
kitt79
I was afraid that would be the answer. She makes other annoying sounds, which I'm ok with, but this one seems to be damaging my eardrums lol. Oh well.

M2MM
Kumiko will let out that deafening tone, and I won't look at him or talk to him until he makes an "approved" noise. This has cut down on his shrieks considerably.
Snow
We call it "skronking" at our house. The dogs simply love it and Boo loves that they love it. He skronks to get the dogs to play with him. arggghhhhhh!
sandra902
oh boy don't i know it. little peetey the 'tiel has an absolutely piercing shriek that takes place for about an hour mid-morning. we are working hard on extinction of this shriek. was it ever hard at the beginning to ignore it. i slipped a couple times and softly told peetey 'noooooh' until i heard merlin tell peetey 'noooooh' then i really worked hard on offering no response whatsoever. i do give peetey a lot of reinforcement for acceptable sounds and am hoping for the payoff soon. merl did surprise me this morning with an AG-sound-level imitation of peetey's shriek. i gave him the stink-eye for that one before i caught myself.
