Woody6 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I read the following information today and thought I'd share... http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,368305,00.html http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dbmd/diseaseinfo/psittacosis_t.htm
lovemyGreys Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Thanks for posting that information *Transmission of the Chlamydial organism from birds to humans has been confirmed in a number of cases. Although psittacosis infection in humans is rare it is potentially dangerous for persons who are sick, elderly, immunosuppressed (e.g., HIV patients) or pregnant. These people should consult their doctor for more information concerning Chlamydia psittaci. http://www.theparrotsocietyuk.org/index.php/Psittacosis/54 http://www.pricelessparrots.com/avian-chlamydia.htm
