ceebee007
I have a 12 week old Congo. When I speak to him he shakes his head like a hic-up or sneeze. Is this normal? Any other sounds he dosent really care about just when I speak he does it.. Any insight would help.
judygram
They all shake their heads, not just the babies and that is normal, they may be trying to shake off something on their beak, usually food so it flies off on the walls, floors and whatever:pinch: but you say he only does it when you speak to him, thats odd but then maybe he doesn't like the sound of your voice, sorry just trying to inject a little humor:laugh:  Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and this grey. lovemyGreys
Some parrots, particularly African greys, shake their heads as if there's water in the ears. No one really knows why they do this, and it seems to be normal. If your bird does it excessively it may be a sign of an ear or nasal infection, im sure your baby is fine . Big_Squishy
I have see the same things in BoBo my 4 month old CAG. Funny thing is I can get him to copy me. I shake my head and he will copy . No matter when it is. I have checked him all over. his nose holes are clear and clean, his beak is clean, his breathing is calm and relaxed with a good apatite. I also have noitced he will fluff up when I talk to him especially when I whistle a new way or a little louder than I intended. After he fluffs he will shake his head. Seems to be the general opinion that is is nothing to worry about with out secondary indications or symtoms , or being completely excessive.
