boudreauxsmom
Hi. I have a 10 year old congo that recently started acting like a baby (wimpering and begging)and walking around with its wings dragging. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Guest Skuffy
I have 8yr old Teenager Grey called MAx who is still very much a baby,,he even talks like 1 some times the way he says hello..As for dragging his wings around that could be like a mating dance for you..Is he still eating and drinking..You Greys is on the change from a Teenager to Adult....I think others may give you some help aswell
lovemyGreys
Sounds very much like your grey is regurgitating,A parrot regurgitates usually for one of two reasons, he is ill or he has decided you are his mate & he is showing you affection. The drooping wings along with whimpering noises is also accompanied by a bobbing or pumping movement of the neck.If this is the case it's best just to ignore this behaviour, walk away for a few minutes. However, just to complicate things, a sick bird also can make the bobbing movement,if this is the case keep an eye out for food in the cage that has been vomited, changes in droopings, perching fluffed up etc.. Dave007
Since you didn't say, I'll ask you. Is your bird doing this the whole day without stopping or just periodically during the day?
boudreauxsmom
Hi, Thanks for the posts. He does try to feed me, but he only displays this kind of behavior when he's with me out of his cage.
Graehstone
Ahhh spring has sprung and so have your sweeties hormones. How does that song go ..."Love is on the air ..." just pop open a nice bottle of Merlot, maybe light a candle, soft mus ... no wait, that's when the wife gets frisky ... um, ...er, ah yes back to the topic at hand. Best thing to do is to ignore this behaviour or distract from it, just don't encourage it. My Gracie does the "Hey Sailor!" thing to me all the time and as much as I'd like to just grab and cuddle her, I walk away or distract her with toys or stuff till she's either all tuckered out or the "phase" passes. It's nothing to be overly concerned about as it's just one of those things that a "Parront" has got to go through.
judygram
Yes it does sound like the hormones are raging and like Graehstone said love is in the air in the springtime and he gave you the best advice, ignore it and distract him to something else. Boudreauxsmom, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and your grey.
