Not2bmartyred
Hi, I just got a blue parakeet, (named Nuriko), and I thought that the people at pet smart would be knowledgeable but they couldn't answer many of my questions so i figured I'd list them here and see what kind of response i could get. 1. Should I feed him more than just the seeds and if so what should i get for him. 2. I would like some information about wing clipping. I don't really like the idea of clipping but after he gets used to me I want to be able to take him out and hold him. 3. Lastly how long should I let him adapt to the new environment before trying to get him out of the cage. I appreciate in advance advice I could get. Tari
1. I feed mine the same as i feed my other parrots. Mix veggies, fruit, rice, pasta, millet and some seed. Sometimes part of a boiled egg with shell. 2. I would go to your vet or find your local parrot club and have one of them show you how to wing clip. 3. I would wait at least 48 hours. But some people say not too. Here is a good website with a well written guide to taming a budgie. http://www.lisashea.com/petinfo/articles/bird_hand.html Hope that helps some.
