di2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Share Posted May 16, 2008 hi ive been reading all about teflon on ev1's posts and have got rid of all mine but was wandering about ordinary cooking fumes? i cook my bacon under the grill on a tin plate but this always fills the house with smoke :blink: and always sets of my fire alarms:( will these ordinary cooking fumes harm my grey? xx di xx Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They have a very efficient respiratory tract which means they move oxygen from the air into the bloodstream very quickly. This makes them very susceptible to toxic elements in the air. Lyric Posted May 16, 2008 Share Posted May 16, 2008 Yes, you must be very careful. Birds are very sensitive to any kind of smoke, smells and fumes. Even burning candles and air fresheners are bad for them. You should move your bird to another room if you are cooking and it will get smoky.
